Serving the community better : The BAM inaugurates its expanded facilities
PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Magog, January 27, 2026 – The Memphremagog Food Bank (BAM) is proud to announce the official inauguration of its expanded social grocery store — the result of a year of major renovations— as well as the launch of celebrations marking its 35th anniversary of service to the community.
An essential expansion project
After a year of construction work carried out directly on-site, The BAM has doubled its capacity, allowing it to better meet the growing needs of vulnerable families and individuals in the Memphremagog region. From now on, four families can shop for groceries every twenty minutes.
The renovated facilities also feature the new Desjardins conference room, a modern space designed to facilitate training activities and community meetings.
"This expansion represents much more than just a physical growth; it is a direct investment in the dignity of the people we serve. We are deeply grateful to all our partners and donors who believed in this vision, allowing us to pursue our mission in facilities even better adapted to our users' needs," stated Karine Beaupré, Executive Director of the Memphremagog Food Bank.
Committed partners and donors
This major transformation is the result of collaboration with deeply committed partners, including Food Banks of Quebec, Caisse Desjardins du Lac-Memphrémagog, the Memphremagog Hospital Foundation, and the FCSCJ Canadian Foundation.
This support, combined with the generosity of many donors through the Let’s feed our people campaign, has finally turned this expansion project into a reality. With a $ 730 000 goal now within reach, we are entering a final sprint to raise the remaining $ 100 000.
The BAM would also like to highlight the exceptional support of the architecture firm ADSP, an outstanding partner that demonstrated its commitment to the organization’s mission by reducing its professional fees.
35 years of service to the vulnerable
In parallel, The BAM is celebrating 35 years of unwavering commitment to those in need. To mark this milestone anniversary, several festive activities are planned throughout the year.
Key highlights include the "Bulles et ballons" event, which will be held in partnership with Bleu Lavande on July 16. This will offer a unique opportunity to celebrate in a warm and festive atmosphere. The BAM will also launch the second edition of its 50/50 Lottery, with additional activities to be announced in the coming months.
