A renewed board of directors at The BAM

Magog, September 9, 2025 – The Memphremagog Food Bank (The BAM) today announces a reorganization of its Board of Directors following the passing of its president, Michel Morisset, on May 1st. This transition also marks the arrival of two new board members, who will strengthen an already highly committed team at a time when the demand for food assistance in the region continues to grow.

Two New Faces

Francis Hamel, co-owner of Les Aciers Robond (2015) Inc., brings strong expertise in project management within the metal transformation industry. He has been actively involved in the community for several years, notably through organizing the Souper du partage (Sharing Supper). His entrepreneurial vision and sensitivity to social issues make him a valuable asset to the Board.

Jean-François Giguère, Senior Business Advisor at Inno-Centre and owner/coach at Brainsto, offers complementary expertise in communication and marketing. His human-centered and strategic approach will play a key role in enhancing the visibility of The BAM.

The New Board Composition

Following the most recent Annual General Meeting, the Board of Directors reorganized its internal roles to ensure continuity and solid governance. The new composition is as follows:

  • Marek Wakulczyk, President
  • Louise Beaudin, Vice-President
  • Christian Coupal, Treasurer
  • Yves Gosselin, Secretary
  • Élisabeth Têtu, Director
  • Francis Hamel, Director
  • Jean-François Giguère, Director

Responding to Rising Food Insecurity

Over the past year, The BAM has experienced an increase of more than 21% in requests for food assistance across the Memphremagog RCM. In 2024–2025, a total of 495,478 meals were redistributed, representing a 23% increase compared to the previous year. To meet this growing demand, the organization is planning the expansion of its social grocery store, a project supported by its major fundraising campaign, “Let’s Feed Our People.”
