The "Départ Canon" project is aimed at expectant mothers and families with one or more children aged between 0 and 5, who are in a precarious financial situation and live in the Memphrémagog MRC. The project can also be offered to a family in a temporary situation, awaiting a decision or a government allowance, for example.
Two food aid distributions a month are offered to meet the children's many nutritional needs and provide them with fresh produce. In addition to the monthly groceries, the family will receive fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, eggs and diapers, as needed, two weeks later.
Families with older children are not left out. The Memphrémagog Food Bank has a program designed especially for school-age kids. All members of the family are included in the assessment of the household's situation and the distribution of food.
A family's financial situation will be assessed annually and adjusted according to changing needs. This project is open to new and existing users of the Memphrémagog Food Bank.
